The exhibition TUTANKHAMUN - HIS TOMB AND HIS TREASURES whisks you off to the enigmatic world of pyramids, mummies and hieroglyphics. Visitors can see for themselves the one and only complete reconstruction of the most fascinating tomb in human history, with the treasures on show made to museum quality. The reconstruction, built to the exact dimensions of the original, presents the funerary treasure of the legendary pharaoh just as its discoverer, Howard Carter, found it in 1922.

More than 1,000 objects in 4000m²
On 4th November 1922, the British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun intact. It was 3,300 years old! King of ancient Egypt in the XVIIIth dynasty, the pharaoh ruled from 1332 to 1323 BC. His burial chambers have been perfectly recreated for the exhibition “Tutankhamun, his Tomb and his Treasures”. From 20th April to 6th November 2011, you can admire more than 1,000 fascinating replica artefacts spread out over 4,000 m² at Brussels Expo.
Motto: Eendracht maakt macht - L'union fait la force - Strength through unity- Einigkeit macht stark

The motto was used by Belgium after its Revolution of 1830, initially only in its French form "L'union fait la force". Only when the Dutch was equated with the French did the Belgian state take "Eendracht maakt macht" as its motto instead, sometimes with the variant "Eenheid baart macht". In 1830 this unity was identified with the unification of Belgium's nine provinces, whose nine provincial coats of arms are represented on the national arms, and the new country's unification of its liberal progressives and Catholic conservatives. Indeed, it was launched in 1827-1828 by newspapers published in Liege which allied liberals and Catholics in the unionism which brought about the Revolution and which then dominated Belgian politics until the founding of the Liberal Party in 1846. Although the motto is often used in Belgicist or unitarist circles (as a call to Flemings and Walloons, natives of Brussels and German speakers, all to maintain Belgium's unity), this is a historical misinterpretation - the motto is a unionist not a unitarist slogan. Its German version is "Einigkeit macht stark". Flemings sometimes parody the motto by chanting it as "L'union fait la farce" ("Union makes a farce") or "L'oignon fait la farce" ("The onion makes the filling"), trivialising it as a cooking recipe.

Designed by André Waterkeyn, it stands 102-metres (335 ft) tall. It has nine steel spheres connected so that the whole forms the shape of a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Tubes connect the spheres along the 12 edges of the cube and all eight vertices to the centre. They enclose escalators connecting the spheres containing exhibit halls and other public spaces. The top sphere provides a panoramic view of Brussels. Each sphere is 18 metres in diameter. Three spheres are currently (2008) closed to visitors, others can be reached easily by escalators. The vertical vertex contains a lift which was very fast and advanced at the time of building (the speed is 5 m/s)
It was built between 1866 and 1883 in the eclectic style by architect Joseph Poelaert. The total cost of the construction, land and furnishings was somewhere in the region of 45 million Belgian francs. It is the biggest building constructed in the 19th century.

The Brussels Palace of Justice is bigger than St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The building is currently 160 by 150 meters, and has a total built ground surface of 26,000 m². The 104 meter high dome weighs 24,000 tons. The building has 8 courtyards with a surface of 6000 m², 27 large court rooms and 245 smaller court rooms and other rooms. Situated on a hill, there is a level difference of 20 meters between the upper and lower town, which results in multiple entrances to the building at different levels.

We also have 3 official languages French(spoken in the south) Dutch(spoken in the North) and German by roughly 75000 people living next to germany. For every region you have a different parliament, and then we have a fourth parliament the Belgian Federal Parliament. (=> 4 times more ministers) We have like 70 ministers in Belgium, lot of wasted money...
So after the elections all these people talk, and talk and talk and talk some more about all the little things there not happy about in our little country with our small problems and in the end we ( surrealist belgians) always find an agreement.

End of the story
Enjoy and don't forget to taste them all! :D

Cinémathèque royale de Belgique

it's a project started in 1938 to collect and preserve all existing movies and to show them on a regular basis to the public to enlighten them for a fair price.
So everyday of the year (excpet 2 I think) they screen old and recent movies for 3 euro/movie.
What is very amazing is when they screen silent films because then you have a pianist playing in the theatre, it truely is amazing. You can check out the movies they will screen for the next two months on their website.

One more thing, go watch a silent film there!
